Decision guide

Ferrari or Lamborghini for the Algarve — which one's the right car for your trip?

Both brands rent at similar prices and both turn heads. The interesting question is which one suits the Algarve specifically — the A22 motorway, EN125 corridor, golf-resort parking, unpaved villa access tracks, and the coastal N247 around Cabo de São Vicente. Here's what we've learnt from years of handing keys to customers across the region.

The honest answer

Both brands are flagship Italian supercar makers and both rent at remarkably similar prices — typically within €100/day of each other on equivalent models. So the real question isn't price or specs. It's: which one are you going to enjoy remembering after the trip?

Ferrari customers tend to talk about the way the car drives — the steering, the balance, the way you and the car settle into a rhythm on the second day. Lamborghini customers tend to talk about how the car feels — the wedge silhouette, the V10 echo off Old Town walls in Albufeira, the way valets at Quinta do Lago run over.

Neither is wrong. If you're torn, we offer mid-trip swaps — Ferrari for the coastal drive on day two, Lamborghini for the resort dinner on day four. Both delivered to your villa; no need to drive back to a depot.

Frequently asked

Which supercar handles Algarve roads better — Ferrari or Lamborghini?
The A22 motorway and EN125 corridor reward either. On the twisting coastal roads near Cabo de São Vicente or the road up to Monchique, the Ferrari's lighter steering and more refined chassis composure feel slightly more at home. The Lamborghini Huracán is happier on the open motorway sections; the Lamborghini Urus suits the unpaved access tracks to some Quinta villas.
Which is easier to park in Vilamoura or Quinta do Lago?
Both Italians have similar wheelbase challenges. Ferrari Portofino and Roma are easier in tight resort parking than the Lamborghini Aventador. The Lamborghini Urus and Ferrari Purosangue (SUVs) are noticeably easier than their low-slung siblings around marina car parks and golf-club valet zones.
Which uses less fuel for a week in the Algarve?
Both V8 turbos (Ferrari F8 Spider, Ferrari Roma) and the V10 Lamborghini Huracán return roughly 14-18 L/100 km in mixed Algarve driving. The Ferrari hybrids (296 GTS) can hit 11-12 L/100 km on long A22 cruises. The big SUVs (Urus, Purosangue) drink more — budget 18-22 L/100 km.
Which is louder for the village drives near Albufeira or Lagos?
The Lamborghini Huracán's naturally-aspirated V10 is the loudest in our fleet and the most theatrical. The Ferrari 296 GTS in electric mode (yes, it can be silent) is the quietest. A Sterrato in Sport mode is somewhere in between — louder than the F8 Spider, less manic than the Huracán. For old-town arrivals, the 296 GTS gets attention without rattling windows.
Is one safer to drive on Algarve roads than the other?
Both are extraordinarily safe by absolute standards. The Ferrari Purosangue and Lamborghini Urus add SUV ride height and all-wheel drive, which forgive more on unexpected road conditions (the EN125 has occasional rough patches; some Quinta villa access tracks are unpaved). For pure driving enjoyment with two people and minimal luggage, either is excellent — start with whichever brand you have an emotional connection to.
Which is better for getting to Faro Airport quickly?
The A22 motorway is straight, well-surfaced, and 120 km/h limited. Both perform identically — speed difference is academic. The real factor is whether you want to arrive in a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. (Either way: budget 10 minutes for photos before returning the car.)
Can I rent both in one trip?
Yes. About 15% of our multi-day bookings involve swapping mid-week between brands — typically Ferrari for the coastal drives and Lamborghini for resort and dinner arrivals. We coordinate the swap at your villa or hotel; no need to drive back to a depot.
